Hi,

<some context>
I managed to buy a E6500 through a special promo at my university. Although I wanted an integrated graphic card (I'm not going to do *any* gaming so the nvidea cards are completely useless for me, right?), the promotion was limited to the nvidia 160.

Now what do I see upon receipt, they screwed up at dell: they delivered a notebook with the intel graphic card and no bluetooth. I've noticed them and they'll replace the notebook. Now I was thinking if I would be able to make a deal with Dell: send me the BT card that I'll install myself and some compensation for the missing graphic card (which I actually didn't want anyway).

Would I be able to pull off something like that, and what 'compensation' would you try to get (I already have max RAM, extra 6 cell battery, mouse, ...)

Compensation? For that?

Good luck....

well, it is a €100 upgrade I didn't receive... I think it's cheaper for them to compensate my 'loss' than to replace the entire device (they already proposed to replace it)...

It's worth a try if you are otherwise happy with the computer.

They may not want to give you cash. Is there any add-on of similar value that you could ask for instead?

Good luck. I was unsuccessful getting anything out of Dell when I ordered my E6500 and then 2 days later they discounted it $400 off. How do you think I felt knowing I could have waited 2 more days to save $400 on the exact same thing? Pretty unhappy...

On to your bluetooth woes though, I ordered without the bluetooth module (by mistake) and ordered just the card afterwards (which was only $25 including shipping). It is very easy to install yourself. However it did not come with the screw required to hold it in place and I had to cannibalize my old laptop for the specific super tiny screw.

I thought Dell had some kind of pricing protection policy (within 21 days) in which you can call and reduce the price of your laptop if they dropped the price after you buy?

Apparently not. I tried very hard and got nothing. I had multiple Dell reps tell me flat out 'No' and my sales person who sold me the laptop said there WAS something he could do. I called him back to check several times and he just kept saying he handed it off to his sales manager for review. Eventually they got sick of me calling and I realized it was a lost cause.

However, if you have somewhere that states this on the Dell site or in writing I would LOVE to read it...

Did you buy the laptop through KULeuven?
I have the same problem. I haven't mailed them yet though.

Hi

Yes, I actually did buy it from KULeuven. I've mailed them and immediatly proposed to swap the device. I proposed to install the BT myself and requested that they'd make a deal for the missing graphic card (I was thinking about requesting an extra power adapter). I didn't receive a reply yet, but they told me I cannot contact Dell directly to ask.

The only reason I don't want the nvidia NVS160M is that i fear my battery time will drop dramatically, if it wouldn't, I wouldn't even bother making a deal but just swap the device.

kind regards,

I completely understand the issue. I would also like to keep my X4500 because of the prolonged battery time. I haven't mailed them yet, but I await their awnser on your mail.
