I've digged around for a bit and found the two links below. First link talks about the issue. Second link, however, shows the systems that has already got an updated BIOS or the date that a new BIOS will be made available.

Seems like a lot of the older Precision workstations like M6400, M6500 and M6600 did not make it to the list.

    Second link

I wonder will Dell be providing BIOS updates for those older systems?

That list seems much shorter than what I was hoping for.

For the business PCs, they are not going further back from E6530 or M4700. That's not that far back.

While I do wish that they would go back a bit further, the M6600 series is almost seven years old at this point...

Has anyone seen how far back Intel went with their microcode updates? It's up to Intel to provide that to Dell before a firmware update can be made available.

While I agree machines like M6600, and prior, are quite dated but they are still in wide use. Dell can't use the reason that it is from too many years ago and not fix it. It is not a minor bug but a rather major one that can be exploited easily for unpatched systems.

I reckon it is both Dell's and Intel's responsibility to get it fixed even for the older systems.

Dell still sells all kinds of older models on dellrefurbished.com.
