    Thanks for reply and congratulation on new workstation;
It is nice to know that I can receive my workstation before actual delivery date, Now I want to decide which LCD I should select? especially if the material or quality of covet is better.
If you don't mind asking you, Why you configured your workstation with Red Covet LCD option?

Not absolutely sure, but I think there is no longer any difference between the regular and the covet-ed. M6800. It used to be that the covet had a glossy border-to-border protective screen cover (a la Alienware).

Touchpad manager > select the mouse picture from the upper band (next to picture of touchpad) > disable touchpad when USB mouse present

Concur, the only difference now (with proper configuration) is the color of the exterior. It is not superior in quality or materials.

Personally I prefer a "quieter appearance" so I avoid the Covets.

    Hi Guys

I'm wondering if the 17.3" IPS Screen in the M6700 will work in the M6800? Also does the 10 point multi touch screen for the m6800 work like a Wacom tablet? Can you use a pen on it or is it just for finger gestures?

Also what is the difference between these two Solid State Drive Options

    512GB (SATA3) Solid State Drive Mini-card
512GB 2.5inch Serial ATA Solid State Drive

Which one of the above HD is the better one to go with

    Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 802.11n 3x3 Half Mini Card [add $10.00]

    Dell Wireless 1550 2X2 802.11ac + Bluetooth 4.0 [subtract $10.00]

    Dell Wireless 1601 2x2 802.11n+BT+60GHz (WiGig) [add $30.00 or $1.00/month1]

    Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11ac/a/b/g/n 2x2 Half Mini Card + Bluetooth 4.0 [Included in Price]

Which one of the above wireless cards is the better one to go with

    Thanks,
    Jason

The touch screen can be used by both the pen and the fingers.

The solid state drives you mention, one is a msata format that has its own special spot freeing up an additional HDD bay. The other is a regular HDD-sized SSD drive that goes in one of the main bays. If the price is the same I would go with the msata to allow more HDD slots. If removing your HDD for security purposes is a concern then the regular SSD would be better.

For the Wireless cards I would recommend the Intel 7260 card with Bluetooth. That gives you ac speed and all the bandwidths. The dell does the same thing, but my preference has been the Intel cards over the Broadcom/Dell cards, but both should not have any problems.

If you want to use the wireless dock, then you are limited to the WiGig option, but you lose ac speed.

The m6800 does not have provisions for a separate Bluetooth module like the M6700, so you have to include it with the wireless card or use another slot inside the computer for a standalone unit.

I don't know if they still include the pen with the computer, but it should not scratch the screen. The touch screen is like a screen over the screen. Other than that the screen underneath should still be a 72% gamut panel glossy panel

There should be no difference between the msata speed vs the regular SSD. Most of the time the Msata and the SSD use the same size memory piece, just the format is different. Now that does not mean that the msata port might be slightly slower than the regular ssd port even though they are both SATA 3. But this difference will not likely be noticeable.
The Wireless card is something that can be upgraded later if you so desire.
