Is it possible to do so? I have an extra Lp173WF2 panel with what seems to be 50 pin eDP

I've never heard of this done, but the M6700 does have an eDP connector on the motherboard. I'm not sure if it is a standard eDP connector... With the IPS display that shipped with the system, you needed an interposer/adapter board that went in between the display and the eDP connector on the board. Another caveat, the eDP connector is only activated if you have an NVIDIA GPU installed.

In any case, if you have an M6700 and the display, it would be pretty easy to do a feasibility check... Just plug in the display and see if it works, you don't have to bother mounting it properly...

Thats the issue, I'm in the market to purchase a nice gaming laptop that can be upgraded easily enough, so I'm deciding between a 8770W and a M6700

I'm trying to find info on it online, but its extremely scarce. Looking up a screen replacement, it stated it was a 50 pin eDP which is mildly helpful, but thats about as far as I got.

The eDP connector was originally used for the IPS display in this unit. I've never heard of it being used for anything else (but it is eDP so who knows). If you get a laptop without the IPS display, upgrading to the IPS requires swapping out more parts than just the screen. Not sure what it will take to get any other type of display working in here.

This is for the M6600 but it's pretty much exactly the same for the M6700.

I'll keep that in mind, but for right now, what do you think would be better for gaming with a 970M thrown in, M6700 or 8770W? The 8770W is nearly $75 cheaper than the M6700 for a decent quad core i7 and 8GB ($375 vs $300)

Do you the P/N of the eDP converter card? And where to find it besides TaoBao and eBay?

All of the part numbers are in this thread.

As far as I can tell, the M6600 and M6700 use the same parts for attaching the IPS display to the motherboard. (I'm not totally sure on this but this is all I have to go off of.)

This is for a 6-year-old system, and the IPS display configuration was pretty rare to begin with, you're only likely to find the parts from second-hand sources like eBay.

Alright, but do you know specifically the P/N of the eDP converter? And do you know specifically whether the M6700 is 40 pin eDP or 50 pin eDP?

I noticed in your signiture that you have a 120Hz panel in your m6700, whats the model number of the panel? and I should just need the 3D display cable (the one with the big 3D sticker on it, lol) to use it right? does it work with an Firepro M6100 or only Nvidia cards?
