Hmm, I don't have IPS panel so i can't tell if 680m can do 10bit output. I used external monitor 90% of the time so no point choosing IPS panel on laptop.
    7970m偶没装,更加不懂了

So, you had to remove the screw holders from the ATI card or what? It's a bit unclear from the photos..

@baiii: Why wouldn't the 680M or the 7970M work with the IPS screen?

I read the original thread, he is saying nvidia heatsink wont fit AMD cards/

I am not saying they don't work, just I don't know if they can do 10bit. I can use IPS too on my m8900 without enabling the 10bit option, but I didn't had enough time to test if the IPS remain 10bit.(or if the GPU giving 10bit signals) I will try the 10bit test ramp once I get my new panel.

From the photos it seems that the AMD card has some protruded screw holes compared to the NVidia ones; from another M6600 thread, the conclusion was that it won't fit because the AMD heatsink has a bulged copper part which the Nvidia cooler doesn't have so if Nvidia cooler is mounted on the AMD card, there would be a gap between the cooler and the GPU. They didn't mention any mounting incompatibility apart from different memory chip locations..

So, there's a 10-bit option to be enabled in the AMD drivers additionally? OK, I misunderstood your post.

There's one thing I don't understand - so, the display is connected to the motherboard on a different connection which bypasses the integrated card since it doesn't support the 10-bit output - but, if the screen can work with the 8-bit output and it's connectors are the same, wouldn't it mean that you could connect it to the IGP connection on the motherboard and have the Optimus working with the IPS screen, albeit only in the 8-bit color mode? Since I saw nobody mentioning that, it is either that the screen connectors are different or the cards always output in the 10-bit mode (so, that driver option does nothing?).

Scott say it is a displayport instead of the LVDS port.(the connector is not the same) . There should be option for 10bit on quadro cards aswell.
