To get 6 hours you are going to have to be very conservative. (Very minimal background activity, low brightness, etc.) It might possible, but these machines aren't really designed to be long-lasting-on-battery machines. I've always been happy if my M6700 lasts for 3 hours but I've never been very conservative with out power-wise... It's just nearly always plugged in while I'm working. (I have a few extra power cords scattered around, plugged in at places where it usually sits.)

Happy to finally get my m6600 after years of catching up on bills, has a quadro 4000m in it right now looking at a m6100, any news on anything better or bios a16 advances with fan control? Or just stick to a15.

Edit.. Just noticed Eurocom has upgrades for the M6600 a gtx 970 6gb, Don't know what thats all about. Its got a TDP of 80 watts probably modded vbios.

I recently bought a new (non-Dell) battery for my M6600 as the original died and the new one works fine. I can get about 3-4 hours out of it, but the battery is purely for emergencies or when there's a power cut. It spends 99% of its working life tethered to the socket in the wall.

I might have to change the screen soon, but that's another story...

I'm having an issue that hopefully someone here can help out with.
    I am trying to upgrade a friend's Precision M6600 from a Quadro 4000M to a Quadro K5000M pulled from my Precision M6700
    --(Optimus is not turned on)
With the K5000M installed the built in screen turns on the backlight but displays nothing.
Connecting a screen via HDMI works perfectly, the BIOS sees the built in screen as 0 by 0 resolution, Windows 10 sees it as a non-plug and play screen and nothing is displayed on it.
    --(Enable Optimus)
Nothing displays on the built in screen or connected screens.
    --(Remove MXM card)
Nothing displays on the built in screen or connected screens.
    --(Put Quadro 4000M back in)
    Screens function like normal.
--(Ordered and installed an Alienware GTX 580M)
Same problem as the Quadro K5000M
--(Replaced the Motherboard with a Dell refurbished one)
    No change in GPU behaviors.
--(installed a different Core i7 CPU)
    No Change in GPU behaviors.

Built in LCD screen is plugged in using the LVDS connector
    CPU is the Core i7-2920XM

Has anyone else had any similar issues, or any advice to fix this?

As far as I remember 680m and 7970m were the upper limits on the m6600

I seem to remember someone going beyond that but I can't recall) what the gpu was

Also the m6100 cant forget about that as an option, been bugging other threads becauae it doesn't seem they are very active anymore, there has to be an answer why we cant upgrade or crack the bios table. The 9xx is within reach i think, because on eurocoms website they have a low power gtx 970 under m6600 upgrade.

The Erocom versions are not "low power". The M6600 has no problem with 100w GPUs. The Quadro 4000M and 5010M are both 100w.

The issue that I'm having is not because of the Quadro K5000M as it is doing the same thing with an Alienware GTX 580M (Fermi chipset just like the Quadro 4000M and 5010M), and the computer is also not showing anything on the built in display using the Intel Integrated graphics.

*This machine does not have the IPS display.
*The screen is connected using the LVDS connector
*The Intel Graphics, Quadro K5000M(Dell) and GTX 580M(Alienware) turn on the backlight, but show nothing on the built in display.
*The Quadro 4000M only functions perfectly on the built in display with Optimus disabled.
    * The motherboard has been replaced with a dell refurbished as a troubleshooting step.

I got a suggestion that is could be the video cable going bad. I ordered a new one and will let everyone know if it fixes the issue.

7970m trumps m6100 which is why I stated upper limits.

Eurocom overcharges by 200% on their GPU's not worth purchasing.

    I'd much rather get a m290x 4GB

I'd rather use the Quadro K5000M 4GB I pulled from my Precision M6700 when I upgraded to an Alienware GTX 980M 8GB
Also, Erocom doesn't even list upgrades for the M6600 anymore.

    That would be a pass for me, M290x > 780m > 680M = K5000M

Considering you had the K5000M already, its a reasonable choice.
