Anyone want to sell me their IPS panel :D?

On another note, are there pictures of a M6600 teardown that shows the connectors to the screen and the laptop. I want to see if the M17x R3 is compatible at all.

Then you want the M6600. You can't dock an Alienware.

    Haaa... no.
This was a teardown I did months ago on one of the systems we received.

Right so I'm guessing that if choosing the IPS, the thing would plug into the eDP to bypass the IGP as it doesn't support it. Am I right in thinking that?

Also, is can the 120Hz eDP connector fit onto the M6600 header? I'm thinking of possibilities into doing a direct swap.

-- Speedy Gonzalez, thanks for the advise and information on what thickness of thermal pads to get.

So let me try to recap this GPU swapping processes, please let me know if I am wrong:
    1. Do the tear-down and all the other good stuff as desc'ed in Service Manual including removing CPU fan, CPU heat-sink, GPU heat-sink then GPU itself.

    2. Replace the FirePro M8900 with a Quadro (3000M/4000M) GPU card...

    3. Since I have removed both the CPU and GPU heat-sink, I need to clean it well and re-paste both CPU and GPU chip with my Arctic Silver 5**.

    4. For the thermal pads previously used on GPU memory chips (Existing M8900), I could choose to either replace them (get some NEW ones - individually cut them/whole strip) OR I could just leave the existing thermal pads as is and reuse them on the new Quadro GPU chip?

    5. Will the diff (AMD vs nVidia) GPU card's memory chips location be the same for the thermal pads to be reuse?

    6. Other than the GPU's memory chips need thermal pads, is there anywhere/anything else on the GPU card that need thermal pad? I understand the thermal pad are meant to be a heat transfer media to the heat pipe

    7. Now, comes the good part... See if I can manage to put it back together. :)

    8. Anything else I am missing? I am planning this fun project on Friday!!

** I have some old (2-3 years old) Arctic Silver 5 and cleaning solutions that I maintained well, do you guys think I could still use it or should I just get some new one?

Bokeh, just read your "M6600 Owner's Review - Warning - Large pics..." thread. Wow!! Thank you for the really detailed images, review and information. I wasn't planning on getting a M6600 until about a week ago. In fact, I have a XPS 17 ordered and am still waiting for it as of today... The M6600 was way out of my range then and by sheer luck, I came across an opened box M6600 that cost me about the same price as my ordered XPS 17. Naturally I am intrigued...

And big thank you to Scott too for his PMs and information on the M6600, I pulled the trigger. Very impressed and never looked back... The only thing I will missed from the XPS 17 is the wonderful sound!!
