Misread the questions I think. You were asking which mSata to buy after purchasing the M6600.

I will have to do some reasearch on it. Last I saw the Samsung that comes with the M6600 was not available outside of OEMs. Intel has one - model 310? There was also the Renasis bulletproof.

    Will do some checking.

    You are absolutely right.
I already have my Dell Precision M6600 and now I want to upgrade it step by step.
I didn´t order my Precision with the 128GB mSATA SSD because it was/is way too expensive in Europe.
Same problem with the WWAN broadband card; it costs that much that I decided to buy the basic notebook without any extras.
Afterwards I installed my 160GB Intel Postville G2 and 16GB RAM I bought aftermarket for a fraction of what Dell wanted to have.

In the meantime I also found an affordable WWAN 3G Dell 5550 2XGNJ broadband card which will be also installed in my M6600.

If I can find an affordable mSATA SSD too it would be great.
But I don´t want it at any price. If it is too expensive I will wait.

Thank you very much. That would be great.
You helped others and me so many times and your great review on this notebook was due to one reason I bought my M6600.

    Many thanks from Europe/ Austria/ Graz :)

Here in the States, the Samsung 128gb mSata drive is only $150 extra. It is a bargain in my opinion. You get the reliability of the Intel and the speed of the OCZ I am listing below.

If I were you, I would order the Intel 310 series 80gb drive. It is $199 from Newegg. Newegg.com - Intel 310 Series 80GB mSATA mSATA (mini PCIe form factor) MLC Enterprise Solid State Disk SSDMAEMC080G2C1 - Enterprise SSD . I know its only 80gb, but I trust Intel drives.

You could also go with the OCZ 120gb drive for $229 - but be aware that people say it is not 100% stable in the M4600 and the speed claims may not ring true. It is faster and larger than the Intel, but I have seen a few OCZ drives that had issues. They may be great now. Newegg.com - OCZ Nocti Series NOC-MSATA-120G mSATA 120GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

You also have the option of waiting for prices to come down and capacities to go up. mSata support is much more widespread with the current gen of laptops. This should kick up demand and bring more options to the table.

Believe me, I would have bought the SSD for about 150€ but the price was more than twice as high in Euro/€. :(

Speed is not that important for me the more reliability is.
That is why I count on Intel Postville G2 SSDs in both of my notebooks. (34nm)

80GB is not enough, I need about 120GB or more.

I would not even take OCZ as a present nore install something from OCZ in one of my notebooks. ;)

It seems I have to wait for a while.
Thanks for trying to help me once again.

Regarding OCZ I got an OCZ AGILITY who lasted 3 weeks, and no way to recover anything at all without expensive machinery. So not very recommendable although I haven't had issues with the replacement, nor with the other one I have, an OCZ VERTEX 2... (none of them are mSATA) They are really fast though, but I don't feel very secure since then and have several automatic backups constantly working...

Just shows what a value it is to buy from Dell with the laptop. $150 to upgrade from the 500gb hard drive. Buy a 500gb hard drive after market for $50. Total cost is half that of buying the Samsung after. You could buy 2 large capacity platter drives and still spend less.

The 128GB mSATA was not available at all from Dell Canada at the time I ordered my M6600. I looked in to getting it from Dell USA parts, but they didn't have any stock that could be bought separate from a new system.

After repeatedly checking back, I gave up on them after 8 weeks, and then bought a 64GB Samsung from eBay. Unfortunately, it was DOA.

I then waited another 3 weeks to get the 128GB from SamsungParts, who are now showing it as "global back order".

These units seem to be pretty much impossible to find after-market.
