    ok. heres another update.

exactly 24 hours after the Dell Tech "fixed" the laptop the screen when black. I tried to wake up the computer, i pressed the power button to see if it wold shutdown and nothing. I held the button down until the computer turned off.

It would not boot after that. I received a screen the was titled "Windows Boot Manager"

Guess what... *Poof* the computer would no longer boot. I have a Raid 1 system setup on the computer so i dont think its a hard drive issue. It must be an OS issue. I tried everything. I called dell and they are sending me a new M6600. 14 to 21 days for delivery.

I had unbearable flicker on my Latitude E6220 and E6520 laptops (latter with Optimus). I found that the Intel drivers for the graphics card were defaulting to a 40hz refresh, which appears to affect the backlight as well as the screen update as setting it to 60hz solved the problem. POwer saving measure perhaps?

Under right click -> graphics properties

    Regards,

    Dave

I've heard of your issue with other laptops. In this case it is hardware related, not software.

Anyone know why a system exchange takes up 21 business days but a new order takes less than 2 weeks?

My guess is, they're happy to make money but not so happy for customers to come back asking for more stuff without paying extra.

It's usually much faster. Exchanges are for refurbished laptops, so they have to wait until a laptop with similar specs shows up.

So a few weeks ago i received another brand new M6600. Guess what? it has the same issue. Slightly worse. Screen flickers randomly at the lower brightness levels. The original quest to resolve this issue was painful enough to not deal with tech support again. I just hope that the laptop holds up.

If you have a solution to this issue please share.

Solution = AUO panel. What panel is in the new laptop, LG? Supposedly there is an A1 revision of the LG that works. I actually had one and it still flickered on the lower brightness settings :/ Swapping in my AUO panel 'fixed' the problem.

I agree. As an ex-owner of a M6600 that had both a LG and an AUO, the LG flickers like a pig. The AUO is the best non-IPS panel for this model.
