safe to guess 1 2.5 bay internal with the optical drive removable in favor of another HDD im hoping they bring mini PCI-E SSDs to teh 15inchers... but i think im still gonna end up with a 17.... I got a thing for 10 keys as well as a few other 17" only things...

The picture looks as if the optical drive is on the left like the M64/500 and cannot see any sort of latch mechanism, guess it's possibly underneath or something.

The M4500 has a PCI SSD minicard option, I already tried a 64 GB SSD and big secondary hard drive with my M4400 and don't really want to go that route again.

what kind of speeds do you pull from the mini SSD?

they say its suppused to support 5 displays but they dont have NEAR that many ports on the laptop itself... based on that alone i would say yes

I also expect dell to upgrade the dock to ESATA and USB3.0

I don't think it will require a new dock, but they may well offer new docks for these.

Well, to each their own, they say. I'm using the M6400 every day and don't have this problem you're describing here. Plus, I appreciate the design and wouldn't have bought it if it didn't have uniform thickness and boxy shape.

Though, the M6300 (while rather unattractive looking, IMHO) doesn't look very much different to me regarding the thickness..

I'm considering picking up a M6600. (Work got us M4500's a couple months ago and I'm pleasantly surprised with it, though they spec'd it inappropriately.)

I can grab 16 GB ram from newegg for around $200. Is there any issue replacing the memory I should be aware of? Do I need to get the memory from newegg's mobility selection?

How difficult is it to put a SSD into the notebook? I have an Intel G2 160 I'd like to use as a boot drive.

    TIA

Putting the drive in is easy, moving your data may not be.
