M6500 HDD Upgrade Advice

    Hi

    I just purchased a M6500 (UK version) and was wondering if I should changed the existing HDD for the

    WD Black WD500BPKX 500GB 7200RPM 16Mb Cache Sata 6Gb/s 2.5 Internal

    My current drive is this, and im not sure how long it will last, as its probably the original HDD

    Will I notice any difference in performance If i did upgrade....Funds are a little limited so a SSD is out of my price range...

    Difference in performance? That's a (big) "maaaaybe" - by sheer virtue of the data being physically more densely packed on the bigger drive, but even so it's doubtful it'll be very noticeable in real-world use.

    Unless you really, REALLY need the extra space right now, i'd rather hold off and save for an SSD - you'll really see a difference then.

    A WD Black 500GB is around $60... You can get a 250GB Samsung 860 Evo for $95... The cost is not terribly much more and the performance difference will be totally night and day.

    Plus you can keep the current drive in the system if you need extra space. Based on the power on hours, it's been in use for less than a year, it should be good for a while.
