Maybe I'm being dense, but apart from aesthetics what is the benefits of E2E? The screen size is the same AFAIK. Both are glossy?

Correction - The RGBLED is now available for the M6400 silver, but it is not the edge2edge. Edge2edge does not have a bezel around the screen (the screen goes to the very edge of the lid.

E2E is same screen size, just a different facade, no?
is the RGB LED on the silvers going to be glossy like the E2E or matte?

I'm certainly not an expert, but I am fairly certain that E2E is indeed the same screen size, it's just aesthetically different because there is not plastic bezel around the edge.

I think that it is likely that the RGBLED on the silver is matte as it does not show as a "truelife" display. As was stated previously by others, truelife = glossy.

From what I can gather, edge to edge has 100% color gamut coverage. Whereas normal screens only has about 40% or so of color gamut coverage. I am sure people with heavy graphics background can go into detail about the pros of having 100% color gamut coverage.

E2E has nothing to do with color gamut. The RGBLED (regardless of whether it is E3E or not) is supposed to display 100% of the Adobe color gamut. According to Dell, 2CCFL displays 75% of the color gamut and CCFL displays 45%.

    Good question for Dell...

Btw, RGBLED was just released for the M4400 on the US config page...

You are right, Percomp. This has sparked my interest as well. What is the difference? I think if you configure a standard M6400 and a M6400 Covet with the same specs except for the display, the difference is about $300.

Let me clarify. There are 2 offerings of the RGBLED panels for the M6400 Carbide Silver. One with a bezel around it in an AG, anti glare, finish and one with E2E glass on it in a TrueLife finish. Both solutions use the same panel but in different configurations. Both have 100% of the Adobe color gamut and both panels are 300 nits. The E2E glass solution is not available yet on the Carbide Silver M6400 in the US.
