    Hi guys,

perhaps I'm getting crazy about this panel but in another thread I already mentioned that the MonitorID of the RGB LED in my M6400 is SEC5443. The same ID has the panel put into XPS 1730 which - as far as I know - doesn't have a RGB LED to choose.

Just for fun I made a diagnostic test of the system.

    Look at this:

    Error Code 2000-0321

LCD EDID - unable to access EDID EEPROM

    LCD Inverter Test

    Test Results : Pass

Well, at first, an error message isn't really that good. But the thing what confused me much further was the second result. Inverter Test : Pass

I looked at the service manual and there you can read that inverters only come with LCD (CCFL) panels.

So, here's my question to you guys.
Could you please also run a diagnostic check. Especially the owners of LED panels.

    Thanx very much in advance

    Blues

I've a M4400 with a WXGA+ LED Display and a M6400 with the LG RGB LED display. I get also a pass at the LCD Inverter Test when doing the diagnosis.

I'm curious what next reason you'll pick up to check whether you have the RGB LED :p :D

I spoke with upper level tech about this and they said since the computer is so new the BIOS can't keep up. My display seems fine. For another reason I ran complete diagnostic. Came up with the same error.

I am also wondering how to verify that I got a RGB LED panel once I get my Studio 17 which I ordered with the RGB LED also. I did a search of RGB LED panels and it shows that LG is the one that produces these. If you have SEC isnt that Samsung? I did try a the 1730 with the LG panel and the Samsung panel and I liked the Samsung the best but still dont think it was a RGB LED panel or even an LED panel for that matter.

Now this is just a thought, and I'm sort of guessing here, but isn't it an LED backlight screen? i.e. you have two devices here, an LCD which has digital components and returns an EDID when checked, and also a backlight which is an analog component that just turns on and off. Wouldn't checking the EDID reveal the manufacturer of the LCD component, but have little to do with the backlight put behind it?

Try looking at your screen from oblique angles to the left and right. On CCFL screens I'm used to a dimming effect but no significant color change. Maybe it's the manufacturer of the LCD on my Covet but it is the first LED backlit device I've seen and also the first screen that actually turns redder when I look at it from the sides.
