    Hi,
I tried to backup my M6400 with Acronis. The backup works fine, but I'm not able to restore. After 4 month of trying to solve this with the Acronis hotline I decided to change to another backup software.

Has anyone a good advice for a backup tool working with the M6400 Raid0 machine?

    What is the problem?
My M6400 is on RAID0 and I have both backed up and recovered backups using Acronis.

I've also converted briefly to RAID1 and also non-Raid using the same Acronis image.

Acronis works just fine with RAID0 and the M6400...at least for me.

So what exact is your problem, i use Acronis also for a couple of years now to backup my systems (My company gives me a bootable CD), so i boot that CD and can backup and restore with no problems. I never installed Acronis on my machines.

    regards
    Christopher

    Hi,
I was using Acronis since years on several laptops and desktops before. It works fine.

But with my M6400 Acronis didn't recognize the Raid System correct. After booting with the acronis image, I always get displayed the two physical discs to restore on and not the Raid-volume.

The Acronis support did several attempts to sent me special boot images for my system, but no one worked.

So it's time to switch to another backup software, but which one?

Maybe it is the version of Acronis you are using?

Very odd. My version of Acronis sees that raid array as one volume every time.

I really can't imagine why most of you can unse Acronis without any problems.
I've tried it with Acronis True Image Home 2009.
The Acronis support sends me several tools to create support information about my system and even with this information they didn't solve the problem.

At the moment I'm just looking for another backup tool.

Try Image from Terabyte Unlimited. There are versions for DOS, Linux and Windows. I recommend DOS or Linux version (via boot disk/CD/USB) for backing up OS partitions. Windows licenses includes DOS and Linux versions. I use it on RAID and non-raided system with no issues. Very well developed and maintained. A very worthy replacement to the DOS based GHOST.
