M6400 it's possible to boot Windows from USB or eSATA external hard drive ?

    Check in your BIOS at boot time to see what options there are. Likely you will be able to boot from USB, not sure about eSATA though.

    The BIOS supports booting from USB storage devices. I'm also sure I booted my E6400 from eSATA in order to test whether a cloned HDD booted OK.

    Yes, you should be able to.

    You will not be able to boot windows from USB though. It requires some editing for that.

    What millermagic said, Windows resets the USB bus when it loads its own drivers, from what I understand that is what prevents you from being able to boot off of USB into windows. You could use some form of the Windows PE for USB fromw hat I understand.

    Not sure on eSATA though. May have to try that myself.
