I have an M6400, WinXP, with the FX 2700M adapter. When it's not docked, it runs at 1920x1200 resolution.

I have the dock connected to dual Dell 1905FP monitors (native resolution 1280x1024) using DVI cables.

When docked, everything works except that both displays look like they are at 800x600. Both Windows and Nvidia say each display is at 1280x1024, but there is no way.

I have a 3rd monitor sitting right next to these two (which is connected to a different machine) and it's running at 1280x1024 and the difference is very noticeable.

I'm sorry for this, but I'll start with very simple questions...

Have you tried unplugging one of the external monitors and rebooting, to see whether the problem still exists?

Have you tried using the two monitors at the same time but with VGA cables?

The dock does not have VGA output.
I will try a single monitor in just a minute and report back.

Sorry, I meant not dual VGA output.

Anyway, I solved it. I can't believe I missed this initially, but on the Settings tab of the Display Properties, Advanced button, the DPI setting was set to custom (125%). I set it back to the default (96DPI). Either some software did this or it came like this from DELL, because I never touched this setting. (This machine was just set up the other day)

I had already checked the "Font Size" setting on the Appearance tab, and I was thinking this was the same setting as the DPI thing, but obviously not.

    Thanks for your attention anyway.

Can't wait to see if this makes everything too small in 1920x1200

In a 17-inch screen 1920x1200 should be a good resolution (similar to 1440x900 on my 14-inch). If necessary, increase the DPI scaling a little under the menu you mentioned.

    You're welcome! :)
