Im thinking seriously about buying a M6400
    How is the build quality?

Are there many problems, because im not sure if i will be in a region where dell has decent represantatives, i need it to be stable and reliable, no repairs needed.

And finally what do you think about this offer, is it too good to be true?

Ok... it's tad heavy... but still manageable.
    solid... very solid feeling lappy.

    keyboard feels very nice.
i do hear a slight squeak on the space bar when i press on the edge... ie gaming... but nonetheless, very nice.

lid and hinge feels very solid as well. not too loose, not too stiff.

the slot load ODD is loud.. but as expected.

the HDD placement is nice in that it does not heat up your palms or keyboard area.

the only place that gets "hot" is right on top center of your keyboard... that's where the CPU and GPU are located... it is warm... but still, don't feel it.

it's not very loud... i hear fans kicking in... but still... not bad at all.

    overall, i'm pleased.

my graphics card was replaced and now i'm a happy puppy... er... ape...

no Black Screens in 2 days so far.

    Hi

For me (using Precision Notebooks since 2003) the M6400 has the same or better high Quality in Building like all the other Precisiosns.

    For the repair question

I buy a 5 Year NBD Support, but not because of the Build Quality. Over all the years i have to learn on thing, nothing is perfect!

Even if you test your Hardware (and Dells Business Hardware is well tested) this is no warranty that the memory, or the GPU e.g. don't break down.

So on your site i would also buy a NBD Service if possible in your region.

    regards
    Christopher

Mine had a faulty GPU (well, it went faulty after 3 months) - which was replaced with another faulty GPU....but Dell were very eager to fix it. Coming out to my office the next day and offering to replace the whole machine for me.

Moldova, small country eastern europe, i think they have represantatives , DAAC SYSTEM , but i dont know if they cover warranty, is there a page where i can check?

@tanis,manic, I realise that nothing is perfect, but there are too many cases of failure on the m6400
Im thinking more and more about the Adamo, Aluminium, exceptional build quality, and it is only 2 times slower than my i7(according to notebookcheck superpi benchmark)

    Thanks

It wasn't build quality from Dell, it was the nVidia FX2700m...this one has been just fine with no worries at all.
