Anybody know what size screw is needed to hold the bluetooth card in place? I want to order the card but from what I understand it won't come with the screw, so i need to find one that will fit.

Have you checked the system? The screw may already be in there already.

It isn't. I had to scavenge a screw from the case for the WWAN card, and that one didn't actually fit quit right. I think it was too long. If nobody knows I will pull that one out and try to figure out it's size and then see if I can find one that isn't as long.

That's what I was going to suggest. ;)

According to Dell, it is a M2 x 3-mm screw. The base cover of the system uses that kind of screw (two of them), as well as the keyboard (four of them), so those might be places to scavenge from.

It might be a stupif question, but is it safe to scavenge screws from parts of the laptop?
I mean they are supposed to be there in order to serve a purpose, right?

I'd scavange one from an old discarded unit. Most IT shops will have some laying about.

Depending on the location. If for example you want to take it from the keyboard. That is secured by four screws, so it's not in danger of falling off. However, if you remove a screw, the keyboard may wobble around a bit. Of course, which one you remove makes a difference too, so you might have to play around with it and see which is the best to remove.

But I agree...it's not the ideal solution, and if you can get a screw from somewhere else, that would be much better.

I ordered a bluetooth card for Latitude E6400 and the screw came with it.
Also these should be able to be purchased online... I am pretty sure that R/C (radio Controlled) helicopter kits usually use these...
