Has anybody figured out the ambient light sensor in the M6400? In principle, this would be nice to have, but it seems this feature is at least half broken.

Most of the time, I have the screen come on at maximum brightness, at least after a reboot. If I go into the BIOS, the ALS box is checked, and what I have to do to get things working is to toggle the box off and on again, hitting Apply each time. Then it will work until Vista starts. There, things become even more complicated: Sometimes, a few seconds after booting, Vista will adjust the screen settings (triggered by the Dell CPS utility), but sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes I can force it to behave by again toggling the ALS on and off, but sometimes I can't

Are others seeing the same problems?
