    Yeah, mine levelled out too. It was a combination of AV issues, Vista 64 issues and some niggling video card heat issues, but it's stable now too.

    What components are now absent that were there in the factory install ?

    Is there an improvement with the new install ?

    brosen you said that you use a lot of VMware. I tried to install Win7 64bit as a guest OS and I got an error message that my processor cannot support 64bit OSes!! (The PC runs on Vista 64 bit).

    Did you ever had any such problems? Are there any workarounds?

    use server 2008 and hyper v. much better performance than VMware

    No issues, VMWare is working fine :)

    I'm using Vista 64, pruned down to make it work well with an SSD.

    Unfortunatly not, it's noisy at idle. But, when gaming or running anything 3d it goes into low and behaves.
