Thanks for the reply. I don't mind staying with the 180W supplies. I do have a spare 130 though.

Thank you so much for the replies, I checked the config in BIOS and found that somehow it was set to only 2 cores enabled not all 4 cores by default. It's ok now

For M4800, if you buy a lower resolution model, you will NOT be able to replace the screen with QHD+. Quite a few parts differ between FHD and QHD+ variants, including the lid assembly.

Is there something funky with the mSATA slot? I just installed a Samsung mSATA card and I'm getting solid 500+ MB/s reads. I'm also getting solid 130 MB/s writes. Can anything be done about the lower write speeds?

I'd go testing a card with large fill and large read. I have liteon 256 installed and before going into RAID 0 it tested 470 read and 390 write.check the card, if you can use another brand.

BIOS A11 that was released on 11th works a treat... actually no difference is felt, but keyboard glitch (double letters) hopefully's gone!

Low write speed may be due to the small drive capacity. Have you looked up what's typical for that size?

Is the qhd on m4800 available as glossy? I own an m3800 with glossy qhd and love it. Glossy screens tend to have deeper black and richer color.
