I want to buy Dell Precision M4800 for my personal use. (I'm choosing Precision for its durability, sturdy feel, robust build; planning to use it for atleast 4yrs)

    1. The 1920x1080 display, is it IPS display?
    2. Can I upgrade the CPU and GPU in future??
    - if yes, can i install Nvidia gtx 880m?

Is there any specific issues (major or minor or unnoticeable) i should worry about??

Ugh...the ink on the service tag sticker on the base of my M4800 has started to smudge. I can't read off the tag/express service code on my machine any more, it sounds stupid, but is there a way to get Dell to send out a new sticker to me?

The service tag can be read in the BIOS. Not sure if Dell would send out a new label for you.

Yeah, I did notice that but there might be a day where my machine is completely dead. I've noted down the tag and express service no in a safe place, should be all good now.

Dell does NOT replace any stickers, even if you offer to pay. My Win8 sticker was shifted and ruined in shipment, Dell said tough luck.

CPU/GPU upgrades: Sort of. CPU upgrades will be within this generation only, so Haswell and Haswell refresh. Broadwell will have a different pinout. GPUs: You can upgrade to any one of the two or three MXM 3.0a cards on Earth! Unfortunately almost all 'good' GPUs are MXM 3.0b, which the M6800 has, and the M4800 absolutely cannot use.

Add it to "my products" on your Dell Support account?

some of the answers are very intelligent, but when comes people start talking about stickers....? It depresses me. if you allow it Your Dell laptop dials over net to Dell server and tell you what hardware you have, so only in case its completely dead you may want to know it through the notes on paper that you lost in your drawer... I recommend simply snap it on your phone, and send yourself email, or your GF she will keep it, unless you marry her :D

As I said above, if you add it your products on Dell.com, it will remember the service tag for you. Problem solved. If you end up forgetting that password, you can reset it through email like with most websites.
