    Linux Problems:

Removed RHEL 6.4 and got Fedora 19(due to habitual use) setup with dual boot Windows 7.

Have been facing some touchpad issues. It some times does not recognize the touch! Cant' find dedicated drivers.

Got Nvidia video drivers installed. Screen looks good but cannot set to a lower resolution(1920x1080)! Screen overflows! i.e. I can only see about 25~30% of a fully maximized window rest overflows out of the screen. If anyone was able to set this up properly, please share your xorg.conf. I believe this is a panning issue. Am I right?

And have not been able to find network drivers for DELL 1550.
    PCI ID : BCM4352

b43 and b43legacy says it's still not supported.

Broadcom BCM94352HMB with Chip 1: Broadcom BCM4352 says there is a driver available here Broadcom : Linux STA driver Although the readme says support for 4352(not BCM4352) has been added, trying to build a kernel loadable module gives a Error 2: no rule to make target 4352. Just indicates that DELL 1550's chipset is not yet supported which contradicts the readme file!

Has anyone has been able to find a linux network driver for Dell Wireless 1550 ?

    TIA

    Oh, not so good.

i'm thinking of gettign a m4800 for to use with fedora, so

    problems, no wifi,
    no touchpad,
    no lower resolution, (QHD)
    no full screen. (QHD)

heres a li9nk to some ubuntu'er who have a workaround (sortof) for the wifi.
wireless - No way to connect to my wifi - Dell m4800 - ubuntu 13.10x64bits - Ask Ubuntu

the m4800 is also Certified Pre-Install for Ubuntu
Components in Dell Precision M4800>> it doesn't speak of the QHD screen on this page

Components in Dell Precision M4800 | Ubuntu

but the other parts (chip plus k2100 GPu) i've only seen on the m4800's with QHD. maybe the ubuntu guys know how to fix it or they never tried full screen

    umm.....

A note on WiFi. On Linux I've always had the best luck with Intel WiFi cards. They have good drivers and they're maintained in the kernel. Might be less hassle to just pick up an Intel card than to deal with the Broadcom driver issue.

Touchpad works. Its just that sometimes the touch recognition isn't that good.

Will look into the links. And post back if it helped.

I agree. I wanted to go for the Intel Centrino® Advanced-N 7260 (802.11ac+BT 4.0 2x2 half Mini-Card). Unfortunately it was not available in my country during the time I made the purchase.

    that's a plan

so the QHD screen works fine when the nvidia drivers a installed, the only problen is full screen and no smaller resolution?

    maybe it's not so bad...

M4800 accepts standard mini-PCI express (half-height) cards for WiFi. Should be able to pick up a replacement from another source. They're easy to find on eBay.

Yup. I believe nvidia will be releasing updates for that. As the current drivers are in beta mode.

I would suggest trying fedora 20, it's still in alpha/beta, but that will have better hardware support than 19, keep in mind that the m4800 is a very new laptop. Also worth a try would be Linux Mint 16 (or ubuntu 13.10 should you like unity better than cinnamon or mate), even if you don't like those distros, they are worth trying to see how the HW support is.

Strange how RHEL worked though, that should be quite a bit older.
