Hi guys, I tried to make this question to the local Dell sale specialist but he couldn't answer.
I'm looking for buying a Precision M4800 with QHD display an. I also would buy a E-Port II docking station that has a display port and a DVI output. Now I'm wondering if I can attach my monitors and what resolution would I display on them. This is an important issue to understand before buying.
I have a Dell U2312HM monitor that works at 1920x1080. This is actually my main monitor. I also have a small Samsung monitor that works at 1240x1024 that I use as second monitor.
I would love to buy a U2713H that works at 2560x1440.
    Now my question is:

Can I have the M4800 with the e-port II docking working with the U2713H at 2560x1440 (connected via Display Port) and the U2312HM at 1920x1080 (connected via DVI for example)? This would work? Would it work also if I place the U2312HM vertically? Do you think is it possible to add also the samsung and use it as third monitor at 1240x1024?

Thanks a lot in advance to whoever can answer my question as Dell seems to can not..

    mario

I think you can choose to use either the DVI or the DisplayPort but not both; to have two monitors connected (without VGA) you will need an E-Port Plus which has two DVI and two DisplayPort (though they are grouped and you can only use one from each set).

    Anyway.
The DVI is single-link so you will be limited to 1920x1200. The DisplayPort can drive up to 4K. If your monitor is vertical, that doesn't make any difference.

You can find E-Port Plus "PR02X" cheap on eBay (at least the older version that doesn't have USB 3.0, but still works with the new Precisions).

Ah ok, so with that docking I cannot use both. That's interesting (as it's not written anywhere).
I didn't check the E-port plus as when I was filling my order it wasn't listed so I thought it wasn't compatible with the precision m4800. Do you think it is?

I need usb 3 so I would stick with the newest model

    thanks!

Yes, it's a similar dock with more ports but it is compatible with all recent Precisions (minus M3800).

Precision docks are forward and backwards compatible from at least the M6400 and onwards, it's also Latitude compatible.

Ok thanks a lot. So with that docking I would be able to have the 27 connected via dp and the 23 connected via dvi both at their native resolution correct?

    Thanks
