The Ultrasharp monitors are IPS, the ones in laptops are TN (thanks Dell for that naming convention screw up). I would assume there is a good chance, but they use more than one model in the M4700. You can check the owner's lounge for data on some of those panels. There is no way to know which one you'll end up with, but if you do get the chi mei, ask for a replacement.

Thanks again, Tijo...yeah, Dell made things nice and inconsistent with the Ultrasharp name;-)

Another question...I'll try not to make this too long a story. I already bought an E6530 as an all around laptop I hope will last (and seem fast enough) for 5 of so years. I do some things beyond average computing, but am hoping to do more as my son gets older (he's 9), and know for the moment, the E6530 I still haven't unboxed, is plenty fast enough. My dilemma is the M4700 isn't much more at the Outlet, so I'm considering swapping, but even though the specs look like the Precision isn't that much bigger/heavier than the Latitude, I'm worried it'll end up feeling like a beast (with someone carried these things to physically compare). Have you ever used both? The laptop will spend 80% of the time on the desk, but will get carted around the house or elsewhere from time to time. Also, I kind of know all the little idiosyncrasies of the E6530, but hot all the ones in the precision. Is it just better, faster, and heavier, or are there aspects where the Latitude is the better way to go? My only point of reference is an E6500 and size isn't that far off, but of course the Precision is at least a pound heavier.
