Hello, I'm new to the forum, but a long-time lurker. I have a Dell Precision M4700 w/ i7-3740QM that was purchased as a desktop replacement for my primary work machine. So far, it's been great. I primarily use my machine hooked up to dual 24" monitors through the docking station, but I've been having to do quite a bit more travel. Long story short, the panel that it came with doesn't have enough screen real estate.

How much would it be to upgrade to a full-HD panel? What type of cost am I looking at? This would be something I'd probably have to pay out of pocket for since I won't be able to pull this off on a company expense.

I tried doing a quick search, but couldn't come back with a screen upgrade replacement on a M4700.

    Thanks in advance!

I was in same situation as you with my old m17x. I was able to find the replacement screen panel for about $150~170ish but didn't really know how to replace it on my own, so I called Dell just to ask how much they would charge and they quoted me $980 dollars for the whole thing :p
So my answer is, if you can find and replace the panel on your own, it should cost you just a price for the replacement panel. But if you want to do it trough Dell, then it's too much.

The panel range from 60-100 depending on spec, I believe it is jus ta drop in upgrade. Not that hard to upgrade, check out the manual.

I think one of our members changed his panel and he had to get a new LVDS cable as well, but aside from that there were no other issues.
