Tried searching for any info on upgrading from a HD to a FHD screen but did not find anything.

I decided to open up the M4600 and see what i found.

(This is a non IPS upgrade.)

My original screen was a LTN156AT17-101 HD screen.

I had a spare AUO B156HW01 V.4 WUXGA FHD screen.

I was glad to see a 40 Pin connetor on the stock screen.

Swapped the AUO over and it worked great, much better display, sharper image, and birghter screen.

I the stock Video cable worked as well, no upgrade in case anyone else is thinking about changing thier HD screen.

    :)

Is that the RGBLED IPS panel or no? Would that be just a straight swap?

The AUO is a 8-bit TN panel with 95% Gamut.

I've heard that the IPS panels use thicker casing compared to the FHD TN configurations..

IPS RGB LED is NOT a straight swap. More items than I can list.

AUO panel is a very nice display. Some may say better than the other panels out there.

So far from what I have seen, very impressed with the AUO V.4 screen.

    Hi Dave P,

I too have got an m4600 through work, and got the 1366 screen (I tried to convince the boss the need for higher res but didn't have any luck) and find the display very average - definately the weak link on the machine.

I've seen screens on ebay which appear to be the model you mention for about £50, but they don't include bracket or inverter - when you upgraded yours did you need the screen only? Could you look at the below link and advise if this would work?

    Thanks
