I recently picked up an m4600 as Dell was blowing them out about 2 weeks ago. Mine has the M2000 graphics card.

I immediately noticed that when Optimus is enables in the BIOS, text renders slightly blurry and certain colors seem pixelated. Any standard Windows explorer background appears as a very fine looking grid. Text in browsers looks smeary and renders as if I have Cleartype on. Cleartype is turned off and font smoothing is disabled in the performance options.

When I disable Optimus ini the BIOS, all of these issues go away!

Can any of you M4600/M2000 owners verify that this is any issue for you as well? Take a close look at a standard Windows Explorer background (that off-gray color) and see if it looks like a fine grid and take a look at you fornts and see if they look slightly blurry. Turn off Optimus and see if it goes away.

    I hope I don't need a new mainboard.

    :(

M6700 owner here. I can confirm that with Optimus ENABLED (Intel GPU in use) you get a more pixely look in the BIOS and other pre-boot screens. This is normal and I always chalked it up to the Intel GPU not doing as good a job scaling these low-resolution screens up to fit the display.

(Never had any issues once it gets to running in Windows at the native resolution, so I'm no help there.)

Yeah ... I'm referring more specifically to the actual Windows environment, not BIOS or preloading screens. Windows just looks slightly blurry when using integrated graphics/Optimus on my machine.
