    Hi
I am looking for some extra power adapters for my dell precision m4600. I am not currently going to buy docking stations, but would like to upgrade later so the adapters need to support these (at least 210w)

Found some fairly cheap adapters, dell pa-9e

These are compatible with my laptop, right?

Thanks in advance and have a great day

My 210w one for M6400 is compatible with M4400 and even E6400.

If it is OEM, it probably will be compatible.

Whether or not the mobo will take in 170w+ when needed is another question.

As long as the tip is the same, you can always use a higher wattage adapter than what your laptop shipped with. The laptop will only pull as much power as it needs.

Yes, it's compatible, it came with my M6700 (and it also comes with the M6600), and I've tested it on the M4600 while I still had it, and it worked fine.
The adapter I've got along with my M6700 is: Model: GA240PE1-00 (that's the only ID I've seen used universally on these type adapters)
It is identical to the PA-9E, but somehow Dell didn't print "PA-9E Family" on the label of my adapter.

The tip is the same, and will fit the M4600.

I don't think it's important to you, but the power cable connector that goes from the wall into the adapter has a different shape, these cables are typically used for desktops: File:IEC 60320 C13.svg - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
    Cable type: C13/C14

The adapter that came along with your M4600 has the cloverleaf power cable connector: File:IEC 60320 C5.svg - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
    Cable type: C5/C6

Though slim, the adapter is quite big and heavy, not ideal for travels, but for that you'll have your original 180 Watt adapter.

That is perfect. Thanks! You must be the dell power adapter guru ;-)
I will grab two of these adapters.
