thanks for the help, but no, that is a US keyboard, the same as the one i have. one instantly noticeable difference on a UK keyboard is the @ is where the " is....so on the number 2 key there is no @, there is a "

but there are other differences as well, i want to see how many of these differences are on the dell UK keyboard...cos the differences in their full expression can be pretty extensive. like a different shaped enter key, and a smaller shift key on the right hand side etc.

so yea, really would be helpful if i could see a pic of a M4400 UK kb

    cheers

edit: ok sorry, maybe i was too hasty, there was a link in that thread to a UK keyboard....

to you guys wondering what the difference is, check out the pic in that thread, and the pics at this link

i really need a pound (currency) symbol on my keyboard, but i dont know if its worth the hassle of getting used to this new layout. I use the left shift key a lot, and im not sure if i can get used to a shorter shift key there...thats my main concern i reckon.

    thanks guys for the help

Umm. That E6400 keyboard looks like a dust magnet! I'm forever wiping the dirt off my keyboard and it is need of a visit from a vacuum cleaner.

Your other option is to use keyboard remapping software to remap an unused key to the £ symbol. However, the E series keyboard doesn't have many spare keys - there is, for example, only one Windows key. It might be worth experimenting with. could ¬ (which I never use) be remapped to £?

is there any way to remap Fn plus another key to produce a pound sign?

That's an interesting thought to make up your own key combination. Fn may be hard to intercept since it is hard wired, but what about Alt Gr? On my keyboard Alt Gr + 4 = €. Would it be possible to make Alt Gr + 3 = £?

AltGr is one key, not the Alt key and the Gr key, just right of the spacebar.
