I think you'll probably find it's the bottom panel for the computer - I have a very mild version of it near the hard drive enclosure. You could try putting some bits of paper between the panel and the chassis. It's not an elegant solution but it should probably get rid of the noise.

Thank you The Doctor, but I would like to know if it's a general issue with M4400 or it's a build problem of my M4400.

    Thank you!

If it helps any, my M4400 doesn't do that. At all.

mine is fine too, no strange sounds like this one :)
I suppose it's some screw or panel that's not fitted correctly.

Good luck with fixing the problem!

P.S. By the way, I wouldn't recommend using paper as suggested by The Doctor!

If I hold the bottom metal surface of the laptop with my hand, the noise also disappear.

I'll test an E6500 tomorrow and I'll call to Dell if it's a problem of my m4400.

I wasn't suggesting a whole sheet of paper - just small squares between the chassis and the bottom panel.

Well... Yesterday, I was working with an e6500 and it doesn't have this issue.

I called to Dell Support and the technician made me remove the keyboard, DVD, hard disk, the bottom panel..

The support guy said me that a technician will come today to my home for replace the entire bottom panel (the bottom panel and all plastics around). However, I have continued doing more tests and I can conclude the problem is caused only by the metal bottom panel.

I removed the panel and I bent it a little. Now, the noise is practically imperceptible working in the most of surfaces.
