Just got my M4400 with the encrypted HD for my work, the HD is a ST-9160414ASG (Seagate Model).

My issue is that the M4400 won't go to sleep, it says that "A request to suspend power was denied by TdmService.exe"

The operating system is XP SP3..
Has anyone else ever seen anything like this?

    Thanks,

Are you running the latest version of the Dell ControlPoint security manager and other potentially related software?

    Does hibernation work?

I have installed the latest version of the control point manager from Dell's website, though I don't see any evidence of the program under my program list under the start menu.
Should there be some evidence of installed software?
When I installed the control point manager it looked like mostly drivers only.

    Thanks for helping.
    ~Tom.

Do you have a Dell ControlPoint icon (grey circle with "DCP") in the system tray? What options do you have when you open it?

No, I don't have the "gray DCP icon" you speak of.
Laptop is working really well thus far asides from the sleep issue.. now i'm afraid to re-install the DCP software.. should I?

There are some useful bits in DCP although I use only the display and power modules. I think Dell have now shaken out most of the bugs. You will need to install both the System Manager and Security Manager. You should also look at the drivers/ software in the ControlPoint section of the downloads since they are also security related.
