    I read a previous post about problems to connect a M4400/E6500 to a 30 in. monitor 2560x1600

I use at the moment an LG W3000H that has only a dvi port not a displayport however it's not a problem for me to find a DELL monitor if a must.

I need to buy some refurbished M4400/E6510 with 1920x1200 resolution
and both have a displayport, my questions are:

    1. which model is better the M4400 or E6510? I see that are very similar, but I prefer to ask if one of the two caused some problem to connect to the 2560x1600 monitor

    2. The display port of this 2 notebook is the standard or a "mini"?

    3. If I connect with a displayport cable the notebook to a DELL 2560x1600 monitor, will work or not? I didn't understood if everybody is having problem or just some user had the issue

    4. If I would connect to a LG monitor via DVI cable, what at the moment is the best solution to do so? Should I find an adapter that require USB power, there are without, which is the best and stable that do not require to reboot pc (I work in finance and I can't reboot and lose 15/20 minutes to set up all again.

Thanks for you help in advance.

You might want to post in another subforum, as this is more of a how to hook Displayport -> DVI 2560x1600 monitor rather than something specific to the E6400/M4400.

Unfortunately, it looks like most if not all DP-> DVI adapters only support up to 1920x1200 since it's probably single link DVI.

You could probably get the docking station and use the DVI from that, which is probably dual link and would support 2560x1600.

    thank you for your help

My first question is not about the adapter, but at least to know from e6400/m4400 users if using the DisplayPort attached to a Dell 30 monitor with displayport if will be possible to use or not the 2560x1600 resolution

the few post I have found were of people got problem about this, so I just need first to understand if I can trust the display port of each of them and be sure I can use a monitor in full resolution 2560x1600

after I understand this, I can at least buy one of them and then think how to connect them, if possible, to a 2560x1600 monitor that have only a d-dvi output.

Please let me know, thank you again

so hard to know if somebody was able or not to use a 2560x1600 external monitor attached directly to the display port M4400/E6400?

I'm a bit late to this conversation, but I'm running an Asus PB278Q at 2560 x 1440 over display port no problems.
