M4400: DVD drive

    I had the same problem as some have reported here, thinking the BIOS was causing problems burning DVD's, causing many shiny coasters to be born :D For me it was Roxio, the program that shipped with the M4400. I uninstalled everything Roxio, and installed Nero because I had a copy, and the burning errors immediately went away. CD and DVD burning are perfect now, every time. FWIW. :D :D

    I'm using BIOS A11 before and after the Roxio uninstall....it was that crappy Roxio program! :D :D

    Ok...too bad that won't be a solution for me as A11 still causes fan to run way too much etc. Doesn't matter, at this point my DVD is switched off because of the latency issue anyway:rolleyes:

    BIOS doesn't matter, I think getting rid of Roxio _alone_ will cure your ills. Let us know.

    Do you have the Intel network card, and did you try setting the mode? Worked for me, but YRMV.
