    Hi,

I'm running windows 7rc1 and my audio has a strange effect. While listening via my headphones, at some points during a song, the volume seems to drop. Does anyone have the same problem/ know what's going on?

Looks like I solved it by uninstalling the IDT drivers.

Don't forget to download the ASIO IDT high definition driver/codec online for the M4400 - they're not posted on the Dell website oddly but they make a world of difference in the quality of the sound compared to the other drivers. It sounds almost as good as when my Echo Indigo external sound card is plugged in!

Also, I have a Motorola S9 headset but I can't get it to connect with my M4400, does anyone know why this might be?

After reading several posts, I believe the problem has been solved even while using IDT drivers. I'm not taking any credit for the information, I'm just restating what has been said before in simple step by step process.

Step 1: Unplug headphones/speakers and external microphones.

Step 2: Install the latest IDT drivers from the dell drivers support page.

Step 3: Plug something into the microphone jack causing the correctly formatted IDT audio control panel to appear.

Step 4: Click on the top "Preferences" tab and on the left side click "general" and disable the "Power Management".

i just installed Windows 7 Enterprise x64 on my m4400 on a spare drive instead of a VM and noticed that the audio performance is much better than with my Vista Ultimate x64... Anyone else experience the same?

Can someone post a link or tell me where I can find the ASIO IDT HD driver/codec that's NOT on dell's site?

Yeah, I saw that later today when I was updating my m770 driver. It looks like they added this a little after I had to go searching for it elsewhere because there wasn't anything good at Dell Drivers before.

So I downloaded it and it said it was new (it didn't ask to replace any files) so I'm not too sure it's really the same driver codec. Still, anything high-def makes me happy.
