    Hmmn, interesting.

They have some strange limitations though. For example, adding the Intel 7260ac card on the M4800 pops up a message saying it requires Ubuntu 12.04.

For me, the biggest changes I'd have made to the M4800 I just received would have been getting the K1100 instead of the K2100, downgrading the HD to 500GB instead of 1TB and then extending the warranty to 5 years regular + 5 years accidental damage and that would have cost me an extra $130 or so.

Thinking about it but not sure if I want to send a third Dell computer back in a month. They might blacklist me...

Is it just me or is it more expensive? On the m3800 it's $40 more to get the pre-config model w/ 1800p (vs 1080p), the bigger battery, 16gb RAM (vs 8gb) and ProSupport.

Works out to $240 more to configure it yourself

    I just checked. It isn't.

Also, if I select Windows 8.1 (I have my own copy of 7 that I can use to downgrade) it gives another error. Can't remember what exactly but something about the chassis not being compatible.

Well thats probably my fault that they finally gave more options....with no indication it would ever change I finally gave up and bought a loaded Zbook 17 with 4930, 5100, 32 gb, two 512GB ssds, 17 inch display, etc. nice going Dell, lost a sale by waiting 3-4 months to allow online configuring.

Same here, the error message saying:
The Windows 8.1 Operating System is not compatible with USH Chassis Options. Please update your selections.

I want to buy M6800 with OS: Windows 7 Professional, English, 64-bit (includes Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit License), then I will install Windows 8.1 instead of Win7 to be able to develop windows 8 apps, the error message doesn't pop up with this choice but I'm worried about it after installing windows 8. Any suggestions?

Also, I have a question about LCD options, Are there any other differences beside the cover color between:
    17.3" UltraSharp™ FHD(1920x1080) Wide View Anti-Glare LED-backlit Multi-Touch with Premium Panel Gua
    AND
    Red Covet 17.3" UltraSharp FHD(1920x1080) Wide View Anti-Glare LED-backlit Multi-Touch Premium Panel

I would very much appreciate helping me with these questions because I will order it next week :)

I figured that one out. Just pick Windows 8 and the error will disappear. You can download the .1 for free after you get the machine.
