We have a very frustrating issue with a M2800 workstation where if the person leaves it for a while the display will not wake. In the event log there will be a lot of errors such as:

Display driver igfx stopped responding and has successfully recovered.

I've updated the BIOS, video drivers, PROset drivers.

    Any other ideas?!?

Uninstall all video drivers through device manager and then try installing the latest driver which is this one: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/workstation/mobile?oem=Dell&os=Windows 7 - 64.

By the way, proset drivers are usually for the wireless adapter as far as I know. If the laptop has switchable graphics, try forcing it to run only from the GPU and see if that fixes it, that way you'll know whether it's the Intel IGP or the AMD GPU that is causing issues.

I with I could try running through the GPU only; however, that isn't an option with the ATI video adapter in this model...

Did you check in the BIOS if it could be done, if it can, that's where the option will be.

Anyways, you can also try grabbing the Intel HD graphics driver from Intel's website and installing that rather than Dell's if you need an updated IGP driver or if that's what you did, try the Dell one.

Yes, there is no option in the BIOS on the M2800 with an ATI card.

I have tried both the latest Dell and Intel generic drivers before, without different results...
