    Hello all,
I've upgraded my precision m2400 about 2 weeks ago and noticed that the battery life has gone down significantly even when adjusting the power options / screen lighting / keyboard backlight and wifi. Wasn't windows 7 suppose to improve battery life on laptops? The battery life has gone down by about an hour with variation on different power option settings. Anyone know how to fix this or anyone else having this problem? I'm using it with a 9cell battery. Thanks.

make sure you go to Dell's site and get all the Windows 7 drivers. I have an M2400 in production with Windows 7 and battery life seems normal compared to our E6400s.

Thank you, but I have installed all of the drivers according to the drivers list and order for when I reinstall windows. They were all downloaded after I installed windows 7 and installed. Also, 3 days ago there were this weird clicking sounds coming from the side of the hard drive, it stopped for a few hours then returned. I ran a diagnostic of the hard drive and found nothing, I haven't heard the sound anymore, but not sure if I should be worrying about that. The battery problem becomes a problem since I take it to class all day and I use to be able to use it without any worry for the battery life and get through class with still 20% of the battery life left, now I get to the critical power. Another other suggestions.

well it's possible the battery is going out. We have 6 E series laptops at our company, and 3 of the batteries have failed before they are even a year old.
