According to tech specs, you're right (0.42 to be exact)! Ive heard people say the MBP is 4lbs, which I thought was ridiculously amazing. Good to know it's 5.5lbs now.

MBP can make use up to 6GB of RAM, if it's pushed to that. M4400 is a full 8GB RAM no issues.

Dell does not offer M4400 @ an EPP (aka student discount, etc.), you can call and try however :D, some reps will do it.

I forgot, you're right about Precisions not being on EPP. But there are a few lucky people w/ 25% and 30% off. You can also try eBay :)

The M4400 will also use more power over the M2400. The M2400 with SSD and LED screen should get you through the day with a single 9-cell charge. If the extra size, weight, and power consumption bother you more than the Graphics performance, go with the M2400. If you can't live without the Graphics power, get the M4400.

My 2 cents is that if you prefer the 14" get the M2400,the FX370M will run Rhino fine.

I also torn between the choice between the M2400 and the M4400. I would really prefer the size and weight of the 14inch. and will use it with a external monitor most of the time, so the only issue is weather the FX 370 will be capable enough for my needs. I am a photograper and will mainly do photoshop work and premiere HD video editing on the computer. I seem to get very different oppinions as to how important the gpu is for these tasks. Any input regarding this is highly appreciated.

I reckon the fx370 would be more than capable. For video editing, i think you would get a bigger performance increase with a higher spec processor, as the card is already decent.

I ended up buying the 2400. It seems like the lower resolution LED screen is shipped with a black lit (according to the salesperson ar dell in denmark anyway) I decided to get the T9600, 4gig ram and Vista 64. I have a fast 7200rpm drive that i will use or now, but was thinking of replacing it for a ssd a bit further on. maybe with a second drive installed in the multibay instead of the optical drive.
