As an epilogue I would like to thank all the folks that provided information, pictures, etc.

In the end I decided to go for a smaller size and selected the Sony Z555. The screen is excellent and the performance is very similar to the Dell E6500/M4400 but much, much smaller and lighter. While the Dell Precision had better graphics options I don't do much gaming so it was not an issue.

In the end it wasn't much of a contest. I was never able to see the RGB LED screen in person and Dell Canada would not discount the internet price nor was there any indication that any sort of a price break was near. I think in the end the Dell list price was too high and to my way of thinking the Sony was a better deal --> sort of like a Macbook Pro in the size and weight of the Mac Air. I had seen the XPS 13" and was not impressed so mainly for the screen I had gravitated to the Dell 15" M4400.

Thanks again to all that responded...........
    Doug

PS: I would have just edited my own post had I been the last responder and not bumped this up. But I did want to put a conclusion for any searchers headed down the same path.
