Not sure if this is the right place to put this thread, if not, mods please move to the proper section.

I played a video today and my laptop froze. I held the power button to hard restart it but when it came back sound was gone. Headphones and external speakers don't work. I tried removing from the device manager and the pc automatically reinstalled drivers, same thing. I did a system restore to when it was working, same problem. This is an onboard integrated sound card. Its the Sigmatelaudio. I even downloaded the drivers from the Dell website. Is it possible that its burnt out?

when I click on sigmatelaudio in control panel it says driver is inaccessible please make sure it is installed and enabled. When I click on sound the speakers are not plugged in, that's what I normally use and refers to the onboard sound. Right now it has the digital output device (spdif)checked off and says working but nothing plays.

    Hi,

You may consider running a diagnostics on the speakers. Please find below the link to download the Dell Support Center. You may download the same and run the diagnostics.

You may also run a Custom test on the speakers using the Dell 32 bit diagnostics. Please find below the link for the Dell support page, you may refer to the same for more information about how to run the 32 bit diagnostics.

I hope this helps. Please do write back in case you need any further assistance.
