I was looking at the web site, at laptops - Precisions and Latitudes specifically - and the options on how to customize are almost non-existent. This used to be a strong point of Dell, now I wonder whether this will ever come back. I thought it was just a Precision 6800 issue, but I see it on laptops that have been out for awhile. Maybe it's just a Christmas issue?

I realize I could call and likely have more options, but I prefer online. Is this going away for some reason?

I read an article in Forbes stating that Dell was moving away from build-to-order and towards build-to-stock. On their website the trend has definitely been noticeable even over the last few years. Presumably customization will take a further back seat as Dell goes private and tries to restructure.
