I haven't had the chance to test this one myself, but I read a couple reviews and it seems mediocre: at least a little higher than other machines of comparable size (x220(t), e6220). Based on what limited information is floating around, I'd say you're looking at about 9-10W at light loads, which is about 4.5 hours on the 6-Cell, and about 8 hours on the 9-Cell.

I don't know why you'd want an XT3, though, given that it doesn't have an IPS screen, which is ridiculous for a convertible tablet.

Were you the one who asked about the XT(1) too?

ive got it the slice battery is a stupid design doesnt even fit against the laptop fine plus it raises the back up over an inch making the laptop sit at a very aqward angle and impossible to hold to touch, also using my fingure the screen does not respond very well its all patchy, going to install windows 8 on it and see if it corrects anything.

If you're looking for gains in battery life, I doubt W8 is going to do it, at least not until all the OEM get official drivers, etc. As for the spotty touch performance... beats me. Probably n-trig's fault; I never understood why Dell didn't go with Wacom like every other convertible tablet maker.

Waiting a few weeks for a Windows RT tablet would have been a better choice.

the patchy display was fixed with a calibration however the battery life is maybe just 4 hours without the extra battery and i want to use this laptop to write on with the pen but adding the extended battery will make this very awkward when the laptop is placed on a desk i am still cant make my mind up whether to keep it or not, what other options do i have for a touchscreen with pen input laptop convertable will good battery life?

Sadly the only other current options on the convertible tablet market are the x230t and the 2760p. I have not tried the HP offering, and I hesitate to recommend the Lenovo offering if you don't want an ugly fat battery. If you don't actually need the latest and greatest specs, I would actually recommend the older Lenovo x200t, which is, in my opinion, the most polished convertible I've used in the past couple years. You can definitely get a lot of hours out of it if you're careful and the extended battery doesn't protrude in any disgustingly obnoxious ways.

with the slice battery fitted to the x230t does it cover the 6cell from poking out at the bottom? and how thick does it make it with the slice? thanks the dell is nice on its own but max i seem to get is 4 hours when im at college 8-9 hours i want something that can last a whole day the slice bumped this to 13 hours but it makes the laptop look stupid and awkward to use god no's why dell made it.
