I've read a couple reviews that say that the Latitude is a better 'build' and is sturdier, etc... over the Vostro. But when I came on this forum and a couple others, it seems like the Latitudes are having the most problems, and seem even more 'severe' over the vostro's issues which seem to be just overheating and a 'weak' chassis.

    Any Thoughts?

I guess that people here are just more picky when spend way more money on Latitude then a Vostro.
Also, bunch of Latitudes just came out and they create more traffic then the Vostros.

Go for the precision because precision is what you want in a notebook right? :D anyway really the price is like the same for the lattitude/precision so its a win win

But unfortunately my price range is only $600-750, so I'm still thinking that Vostro 1510 is still a good choice

The issues with the Latitudes have more to do with the fact that they were just launched, some (but certainly not all) have issues, but the only real widespread ones are the audio problem (which is only in XP) the not so great screen (which is still better than the old Latitudes) and the touchpad drivers being less than ideal (and with adjustments make the touchpad much better)

These issues with panels not fitting and stuff tend to occur with newly launched machines and disappear quietly.

What adjustments can you make to the touchpad?

You open the touchpad control panel and disable "touchcheck".

    Makes a world of difference.
