Hey guys.. So after my Latitude E5570 came with Coil Whine I returned it to dell and I have a Latitude E7470 coming to me from the Dell Outlet.. It only comes with 1x 4GB DDR4 2133Mhz however I still have 2x 16GB DDR4 2133Mhz Crucial RAM that was going into the E5570..

Having a look at Dell it says only a max of 2x8GB is allowable on the E7470 with the i5-6200U..

Intel's page for the i5-6200U suggests 32GB is the max..

Other then waiting till the laptop arrives and test it, does anyone know if using my 2x16GB DDR4 modules will work with the above?

Hard to say. People that go with an i5-U processor don't have more than 16GB RAM in their laptops. That's why you probably haven't received a response yet.

Thanks for your reply Z31! Certainly a fair point..

Would it hypothetically work with a single 16GB module and assuming no one knows as per your response is there any harm done trying to use 32GB if the laptop doesn't work with it?

Just trying to suss it out before I have to sell the ram and move to 2x8GB modules.

I'm like 90% sure it's doable, considering there have been successful cases of installing 16G+16G on E5470 on this forum, and... this.

    Thanks for the reply Naketotsu!

Looks promising.. See how I go with the install once the laptop arrives..

There's no problem with 16gb DIMMs with the U-series processors (even the older Broadwell ones); my former employer bought a lot 16gb DIMMs for the Lenovo X250 and T450s with one slot.

I'd be absolutely amazed if the E7470 didn't work with 2x16GB.
