I have a new E7440 running windows 8.1 update 1. The touch pad seems very laggy when using gestures. If I use 2 figure scroll, it seems to wait for a bit before scrolling, then the scroll motion isn't very smooth. Anyone know settings that will fix this?, or is my touch pad defective. I have the latest drivers loaded. My $200 Chromebook has better response :-(

Most of those views are bots. Someone will reply eventually. I'm on a chromebook right now and I agree the scrolling is very smooth. :)

I have the same issue. Coming from a MacBook Pro, I realized I'm a bit spoiled, but its really unusable. I contacted my Dell rep and he said hasn't had any complaints. I find that hard to believe. I tried all the usual tweaks, but its still unusable for me.

I have no problem with two finger scroll on mine. And I do know what you're talking about, I used to have a macbook air before this at work, now while I wouldn't say the response is good, it is definitely usable. I don't notice any lag or if any, very minute before it starts to register that I want to scroll.

Now if you want to talk about backward/forward swipes... well that is a different story. For me, that IS unusable. I just learned to use the Alt+Left arrow with my right middle and pinky fingers instead, its faster and easier for me.

My other complaint is that sometimes my two finger scrolls result in the page zooming in or out. That certainly is annoying.

I turned off inertial scrolling, it seemed to get better. However, now, depending on which app I use before hand, I total lose 2 figure scroll down in windows explore sometimes - have to restart to get it back.

Responses on 7440 touchpad is sure not as good as on 6430 but i can live with it. Despite all them benchmarks I still kinda feel that full voltage ivy series processors are still better than them newer haswells. One cant have everything I suppose, them form factors afforded by using haswells cut weight a lot for laptops.

my e7240 and e7440 get rather unimpressive battery life 4-5 hours ish? Performance is not that impressive. My t420 and x220 though of course bulkier have the same performance, t420 with the panasonic 9 cell gets nearly 10 hours and it's really not much bigger than the e7440 and it actually feels faster. That being said my x220 and hp 2560p and 2570p would be so great if I could find a way to route the external displayport to a 12.5" edp ips screen and get 1080p on a 12.5" laptop. For what it is I still very much like the e7240 and e7440 for the outlet prices I got them.
