latitude E7440 is not turning on

    when i turn on the machine the battery indicator and power indicator lights on but hard drive indicator goes off in a seconds...keyboard backlight works but no display....not able to figure out what is the issue...

    anyone having this issue?

    Try removing / replacing the RAM one module at a time. If the BIOS can't use the RAM then the boot process stops (the keyboard backlight is probably independently powered.

    thanks for the reply.. i will try replacing RAM but i dont know if RAM is issue here... how to identify if its a RAM/Motherboard/Hard Drive issue in latitude?

    I have read somewhere that RAM and Motherboard failure results in beep sound when powered on?

    Detailed instructions for removing / replacing parts are in the E7440 Owner's Manual. Availability of the manual is one of the benefits of getting a Dell notebook.

    Yogish, lemme know if it worked??? I have the same issue with my Dell Latitude....

    We've had this issue with a bunch of our E7440's. We typically have Dell come out to replace the motherboard, but usually unplugging the CMOS battery for a few minutes fixes the issue for a month or two.

    Yeah we've seen that in the past as well on a couple of E7440, E7450s, couldn't do anything to revive them, so we just had Dell send out replacement motherboards NBD and replaced them.
