I'm looking at a refurbished Dell Latitude E6430. I'm just looking for answers. I found a refurbished model on the Dell Outlet for $1179 with these specs. What do you all think? Is it worth it?

INTEL VPRO TECHNOLOGY ADV MGMT FEATURES
    Optical Drive Bezel

9-Cell (97WH) Primary Lithium Ion Battery, (3.0Ah) ExpressCharge Capable

All of my editing takes place on a 23in NEC IPS display when I'm doing any serious work, so at this point the laptops screen is really only going to be used in class, doing everyday things, and editing when needed. I'm only worried about the fact that it is from the outlet and also the NVS 5200m graphics, i'm not so sure they'll be powerful enough. Maybe not?

I also do light gaming, i did some research and found that the card with a i5 dual core runs BF3 on medium at 24fps. What do you all think? Is this a good choice? Is this going to last me?

Specs you gave don't include the CPU or memory or disk, so I can't comment on that. I do a lot of photography work on mine, although as an amateur; the HDMI port will drive up to 1920x1200 (not sure about higher) and will play nicely with pretty much any external monitor.

Photoshop likes a LOT of memory; if you've got fewer than 8gb, consider upgrading. It's cheap. Photoshop doesn't use the disk a lot, but if you use Lightroom or a similar cataloging software, an SSD is really nice.

Older versions of Photoshop mainly used the GPU for accelerating specific filters; CS5 and newer use it more generally NVS 5200m is fast enough to be usable for GPU acceleration, but doesn't do a heck of a lot, so if you do really heavy stuff you want a higher end processor. I'd certainly recommend going with an i5 at least (for turbo) rather than an i3. Dual-core i7s are not worth it compared to the i5.

Not sure if the i7-2720qm is worth it for your specific use, although newer versions of Photoshop will take advantage of the extra cores in some use cases.
