    Hi,

I've noticed that every so often my E6400 will not charge the battery when it is connected to the mains.

It seems to happen when I plug it in after closing it (i.e. when it already is in stand by). The battery LED on the front cover does not light up and it will only start charging when it is woken up.

If it is already charging when I put it in stand by, it gets charged properly.

This used to happen under the A12 bios and continues to do so under A14.

Has anyone else noticed this issue? What could it be caused by? I am running Vista x64.

I've seen no problem with this but I use hibernation, not standby. Are you accidentally using Fn+2 to disable charging?

No, the charging is switched on and starts immediately when I open the laptop.

That's pretty odd. Did you enable something in Dell ControlPoint perhaps or in Vista's power management?

What about the BIOS? What does it show in there when you look at the battery page? How about in Windows power management (or in the system tray) does it show as plugged in and idle or not plugged in?
