Hi folks, I just got a used laptop with Win8 installed. I would like to keep it but I am unable. I have to reinstall Win7. How I can retrieve the activation file and keep it to use on the new fresh installation of win7?
    Regards

Is the key not on the sticker on the bottom of the notebook?

You can't pull a Windows 7 activation file off a notebook that has Windows 8. You can call Dell for the key though, I believe. They should be able to tell you the key it shipped with... I think.

If you fill out this media request form at Dell, they can send you the original W7 disks that came with the machine. It will restore the laptop to its factory condition -- W7 and all.
